Why was Jody Jones so very special?

Created by Stephen one year ago
I do not profess to know Jody well, however, like so many I did not need to as her true and measurable positive impact after only a brief interaction was engaging and lasting in perpetual presence. Jody found a special niche in which she contributed at the highest level. Jody always found a way to pick herself up and rise above her circumstances to transform her own life and indeed those around her. She dedicated herself to what gave her life meaning and purpose. She committed to continually bettering herself. She engaged with people in open and mutually beneficial ways. She invested time and energy not in what is, but, in what can be. She embraced critique and realism with wonderment and hope. She consistently uplifted others and viewed the journey as the goal. She had more power than she could ever have imagined and she used that influence well. I remember a bruising 6 hour swim at Hythe as part of one of Tracy Clark’s Varne Ridge swim camps. It was a grey, cold and miserable day and neither I nor any of the other swimmers felt particularly enthusiastic at what lay ahead. Then appeared out of the blue our vivacious and chirpy VIP swim guest for the pending challenge – the unequivocal Jody Jones. How dare any of us grumble or get out short whilst Jody was in the water………and we certainly did not. (Not to take away from Jody, however, Tracy Clark may also have had something to do with that too!) Thank you Jody, keep swimming and see you on other side when that time inevitably comes for us all. God bless!
